Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine! And this week i am SPAZZING OVER:

Revel
There's an island off the coast of Maine that's not on any modern map. Shrouded in mist and protected by a deadly reef, Trespass Island is home to a community of people who guard the island and its secrets from outsiders. Seventeen-year-old Delia grew up in Kansas, but has come here in search of her family and answers to her questions: Why didn't her mother ever talk about Trespass Island? Why did she fear the open water? But Delia's not welcome and soon finds herself enmeshed in a frightening and supernatural world where ancient Greek symbols adorn the buildings and secret ceremonies take place on the beach at night. Sean Gunn, a handsome young lobsterman, befriends Delia and seems willing to risk his life to protect her. But it's Jax, the coldly elusive young man she meets at the water's edge, who finally makes Delia understand the real dangers of life on the island. Delia is going to have to fight to survive. Because there are monsters here. And no one ever leaves Trespass alive.~Goodreads

Erasing Time by C.J. Hill

Erasing Time
Erasing Time
Author: C.J. Hill
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books
Pages: 368
Rating: 4.5 Stars!
In this high-action and romantic futuristic adventure, there is no escape from the future for two contemporary girls pulled out of their own time.

When twins Sheridan and Taylor wake up 400 years in the future, they find a changed world: domed cities, no animals, and a language that’s so different, it barely sounds like English. And the worst news: They can’t go back home.

The twenty-fifth-century government transported the girls to their city hoping to find a famous scientist to help perfect a devastating new weapon. The moblike Dakine fights against the government, and somehow Taylor and Sheridan find themselves in the middle. The only way to elude them all is to trust Echo, a guy with secrets of his own. The trio must put their faith in the unknown to make a harrowing escape into the wilds beyond the city.

Full of adrenaline-injected chases and heartbreaking confessions, Erasing Time explores the strength of the bonds between twins, the risks and rewards of trust, and the hard road to finding the courage to fight for what you believe in.~Goodreads
I loved the world in this book. I want to live there. SO bad. It was so fantastically amazing. And the characters in this book!? So insanely unique, even the twins Taylor and Sheridan were completely different. And the people who live in Traventon? So phenomenally eccentric in the most unbelievable way!

The people who live in Traventon believe that animals used to talk, based off of our 'records’ such as Winnie the Pooh and Little Red Riding Hood. They also don’t understand slag words such as ‘totally' and they incorporate Spanish words/phrases in to their version of modern English. Oh! And they think that we worship Santa! Ha! (That scene was absolutely adorable!)

And speaking of adorable...I absolutely LOVED Echo, the boy Sheridan and Taylor meet when they first get zapped to Traventon. He has blue hair. 'Nuff said. :P And he's also a major sweetheart! He helps Sheridan and Taylor throughout the whole book when he doesn’t have to. Echo and his dad, Jeth, are wordsmiths who study terms and customs that came from 400 years prior, so they’re both utterly captivated by the girls. And i loved being able to see how Echo felt about them! His POV was one of my favorite things about this book!

But my most favoritest thing!? SKIN DYES!! They’re tattoos that you can change at any freaking time!! SO AMAZE!! Just check out what I mean:
“When it came to dying their faces, Taylor covered her cheeks and eyelids with blue-and-white swirls that looked like spinning wheels. Sheridan went with a flesh-tone face dye to erase her freckles, then Echo painted a succession of gold stars that dipped around one eyebrow and down onto her cheek. Elise applied lip and eyeliner dye, then transformed Sheridan’s eyelids into two golden patches.”
SO FREAKING BOMB, RIGHT?! Right.

But that’s not to say that Traventon is without its dangers. There are plenty of people who are out to hurt Sheridan and Taylor and there’s a dangerous gang that lurks there as well. But Echo sticks by their side and tries to protect them by any means necessary.

And THEN! There was this one COMPLETELY INSANE twist that hit me in the gut and I was like, “WHOA.” And I wanted to cry, because it drastically changed how I felt about a certain character. Insane.

Overall Erasing Time is a fresh new dystopian that should not be missed! I am EAGARLY awaiting to see what happens next with Taylor, Sheridan and Echo! I canNOT wait to dive back into their world!

Annnd i had to share one of my favoritest scenes between Echo and Sheridan because it was just SUPER precious! <3

“My freckles are natural too. I wouldn’t have put them on my face otherwise.”
“I like your freckles.” He dropped the strand of hair and ran a finger across the trail of freckles on the bridge on her nose. “They were top fashion three years ago. Everyone wore them.”
“Just my luck. I missed being beautiful by three years.”
His finger made a slow line down her cheek. It was the smallest of touches and made her tingle. “You haven’t missed anything. You’re beautiful now.”

Black City (Black City Chronicles, #1)
I release Natalie’s arms and expect her to walk away, but instead her hand moves up to my face and she lightly traces her fingers over my lips, brushing across my fangs, making them throb with venom. My breath catches in my throat at her forbidden touch. What’s she doing? If they catch her doing this to me…
The flyers scatter to the ground in a rain of pink confetti. I bend over to pick them up, and that’s when I feel it. The soft, rhythmic beat of another heart beside mine.
Guys! I hearted this book SO HARD. You have to read it when it comes out! Ash is so amazingly attractive and sweet and incredible and i NEED to marry him. Also, i need book two NOWZ! :D

Over You by Emma McLaughlin & Nicola Kraus

Over You
Over You
Authors: Emma McLaughlin & Nicola Kraus
Publisher: HaperTeen
Rating: 5 Adorably Spectacular Stars!
Team: Ben Cooper
After the grand explosion of her relationship, seventeen-year-old Max Scott developed what every girl in the history of the world has been waiting for: a way to get over being dumped. Now Max is the go-to guru for heartbroken high-school girls all over NYC. But when her ex unexpectedly shows up in her neighborhood, Max’s carefully controlled world starts to unravel. With her clients’ hearts hanging in the balance, Max will have to do the seemingly impossible: get over him once and for all.

Brilliant at bringing humor to the trials and tribulations of the lovestruck, #1 New York Times bestselling authors Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus have crafted a tale that will resonate with any girl who has ever been in love or had her heart broken. It brims with smart observations, features a pitch-perfect teen voice, and will attract fans of Jenny Han, Sarah Mlynowski, and Lauren Barnholdt. Readers are sure to fall head-over-heels for this sharp spin on breaking up, making up, and getting even.~Goodreads
Over You is a quick, adorably funny read about friendships, relationships and finding what makes oneself truly happy!

Max was a fan-freaking-tastic main character! I loved everything about this girl; her personality, sense of humor, style and I especially loved her entrepreneur skillz! Her business is seriously the best thing ever! Broken hearted? Bummed about it? Max has got the fix! She’ll get you over your ex so fast you won’t even remember why you liked him in the first place! She’ll also make sure that you have your “Moment.”—where you show your ex you're better off without him and where he’ll wish he would’ve never dumped you in the first place! It’s basically a fool-proof system.

You see, Max along with her best friends/cohorts, Zach and Phoebe, run Ex Inc. a completely free (cookie and brownie donations accepted!) service that helps girls through the many stages of a break up. Max goes by referrals only and comes armed with chocolate, a dash of alcohol and a sleeping aid—the girl is seriously prepared for any situation. Her most recent client, Bridget, is having a hard time getting over her skateboarding ex and proves to be one of Max’s more difficult cases. Kinda like the Angie Riverdale case *shudders* Let’s just say that one involved mix tapes, torn tights and a walk of shame in the rain…poor girl.

The reason Max does all this is because she knows what it’s like to be dumped. And heartbroken. And lonely. And depressed. And part of the reason she helps other girls get over their exes is because she never really got over her’s. That is….until she meets Ben.

Ben Cooper, delivery boy for Cooper Baby, shows up at Max’s apartment with a crib in tow ready to drop it off and bolt. But when Ben meets Max, he has other ideas. *SUH-WOON* Ben is SO adorable and SUCH a cutie and also a TOTAL flirt! If Max doesn’t want him, send him my way!! <3

One of the main things I loved about this story was that Ben’s POV was included! The whole book actually rotates through most of the characters! Granted they were small snippets compared to Max’s voice, but it was still cool to be able to get a glimpse into so many characters thoughts!

Anyway, between dealing with other clients, trying to help Bridget reach her “Moment” and stressing about college, Max stays pretty busy and doesn’t really have time for a new boyfriend. Max also doesn’t deal with her own issues and keeps them bottled up—which causes a stain in all of her own relationships. Her best friend Zach confronts her about it (he was awesome and hilarious) but she doesn’t budge. Stubborn girl!

I seriously idolized Max so hardcore—she seemed to have it all together—until she ran into Hugo, her ex.

Max had, what they like to call at Ex Inc., a relapse. After Hugo shows up she makes some horrible decisions and hurts a lot of people in the process. I was so...not disappointed...but, like, completely let down by her. It was one of those moments where you kinda like deflate and say, “aww, man...she used to be perfect.” Or at least that’s what it was like for me. (Isn’t it so awesome that you can connect with a character so much that they have the power to let you down!? I love that.)

So any who! Does Max reach her “Moment?” And what happens with Ben? You need to PICK UP THIS BOOK to find out!! Over You hooked me from the very first sentence and captivated me until the very last! I would recommend this book to everyone!

SEQUEL PLEASE!!?! <3

Waiting on Wednesday

Then You Were Gone
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine! And this week i am waiting on:
Two years ago, Adrienne’s best friend, Dakota, walked out of her life. One week ago, she left Adrienne a desperate, muffled voicemail. Adrienne never called back.

Now Dakota is missing, and all that remains is a string of broken hearts, a flurry of rumors, and a suicide note.

Adrienne can’t stop obsessing over what might have happened if she’d answered Dakota’s call. And she’s growing more convinced each day that Dakota is still alive.

Maybe finding and saving Dakota is the only way Adrienne can save herself.

Or maybe it’s too late for them both.~Goodreads
I absolutely adore Lauren's writing! Her first two books were nothing short of amazing so i canNOT wait for this one! :)

Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols

Such a Rush
Such a Rush
Author: Jennifer Echols
Publisher: MTV Books
Pages: 320
Team: Grayson
Rating: 5 FLYnomenal Stars! (see what I did there?!)
A sexy and poignant romantic tale of a young daredevil pilot caught between two brothers.

High school senior Leah Jones loves nothing more than flying. While she’s in the air, it’s easy to forget life with her absentee mother at the low-rent end of a South Carolina beach town. When her flight instructor, Mr. Hall, hires her to fly for his banner advertising business, she sees it as her ticket out of the trailer park. And when he dies suddenly, she’s afraid her flying career is gone forever.

But Mr. Hall’s teenage sons, golden boy Alec and adrenaline junkie Grayson, are determined to keep the banner planes flying. Though Leah has crushed on Grayson for years, she’s leery of getting involved in what now seems like a doomed business — until Grayson betrays her by digging up her most damning secret. Holding it over her head, he forces her to fly for secret reasons of his own, reasons involving Alec. Now Leah finds herself drawn into a battle between brothers — and the consequences could be deadly.~Goodreads
I’ll save you’re the wondrously horrible cliché of saying that this book was, “Such a Rush” because it was much more than that. It was irresistible and inspiring and incredible. Such a Rush is a story about following your dreams and making them come true by any means possible and I loved every single page.

Our main character, Leah, doesn’t have the best home life. She lives in a noisy trailer park with her mom, who’s rarely ever around, and a boy that’s no good for her. Leah dreams of escaping, of becoming a pilot, she wants the freedom that flying will give her, so she starts working for Mr. Hall. Leah starts out at the company as the receptionist, until one day she asks for a flying lesson. At first, Mr. Hall doesn’t seem to keen on the idea but while talking to Leah, he sees her passion and strong desire to be in the sky, so he starts giving her lessons.

Not knowing anything about planes myself, I found their time in the sky to be absolutely fascinating! Echols gives just the right amount of details to make the jargon understandable and exciting! Kinda makes me wish I could fly a plane myself! BUT, banner flying is also EXtremely dangerous and even the smallest gust of wind or drop of rain can causes and accident. There were many a times I was frightened senseless and I wasn’t even flying the plane! For the most part, all serious accidents were avoided though. Thank gosh!

Things really start to take off though (see what i did there?) when Mr. Hall's twin sons come back to town to take over the business after he passes away. GUYS. I LOVED THESE BOYS!

Alec is an absolute sweetheart. He’s always willing to help you out or make you smile, while Grayson is the complete opposite. *Shakes head* Grayson, Grayson, Grayson…what am I going to do with you? (possibly tie you to my bed...ehem...I mean...?) Grayson is so outrageously sexy and a major daredevil, he is the epitome of a bad boy and he definitely had me and Leah falling hardcore. BUT! He’s also very confusing! One minute he’s super charming and helpful, bringing Leah dinner and the next he’s a complete asshole and totally spiteful, blackmailing her. I wanted to slap him SO HARD at one point! He was so stubborn and on such a major power trip. GAH! He was SO FRUSTRATING. BUT SO FREAKING ATTRACTIVE. (Did I already mention that?)

And oh sweet heavens! The tension between Leah and Grayson!? It flew (no pun--actually, pun intended!) off of the pages. The spark between them!? I’M SURPRISED THE BOOK DIDN’T SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST. HOLY FOREST FIRE. Like, damn. Just make-out already! :P

I absolutely adored this book, it left me swooning and speechless. It was sexy and amazing and just...SO FREAKING GOOD! I want a sequel! I NEED more Leah & Grayson and sky time! This book is seriously a must, MUST read!

Book Blogger Confessions

1-6Book Blogger Confessions is a meme
hosted by For What It's Worth Tiger's All Consuming Media that posts the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, where book bloggers "confess" and vent about topics that are unique to us. Feel free to share, vent and offer solutions. Just keep it respectful - no bashing authors or other bloggers!
This week's question is:
Choosing your next book. How do you decide which book to read next? How do you balance
“review” reading with “fun” reading?

I like to think of myself as an As The Soul Leads Reader—ever since I saw that phrase I was all, “OMG! THAT’S SO ME!” (So, thank you to the person who originally used it! I can’t remember who you are! Sorry! I love you!) I kinda just go with what my heart desires when it comes to picking my next read! I’m like “*GASP* I gotta read THIS book next!” And if I try to read anything else besides that book...it doesn’t go well. Crazy, I know, but true.

I am HORRIBLE at balancing “review” books with “fun” books. I usually let my review books accumulate so I’m...tied up reading those for a couple weeks. I’m actually going through this problem right now. WAAAAH! And I love the review books, I really do!! But I wanna read the ones I bought a couple weeks ago!! LIKE SO BAD!! I have GOT to get better at that!

So, how do YOU decide what you’ll read next? Eenie meenie? Draw out of a hat? Lemme know in the comments!
